While resident in Hamilton House, Liam and I worked on a design concept which would combine his love of music, our developing expertise in T-shirt design and my screen-printing techniques.
Liam chose lyrics from some of his favourite bands: and we set about coming up with designs that would encapsulate the message within these songs and provide a cool image that could be printed onto T-shirts.
We were trying to get back to the feel of the early rock tees which were frequently white designs on black but using organic printing techniques. So far only one of the designs has been printed on T-shirts but many have been screen-printed as posters and four were printed as cards.
Four of the designs produced are shown above are:
Tool- Lateralus (Lateralus/2001) It is from this album the lyric Lines of Reason come. We printed a limited edition on t-shirts.
Sonic Youth – Hey Joni (Day dream Nation/1988)
Interpol – NYC (Turn on the Bright Lights/ 2002)
Mars Volta – Roulette Dares (The Haunt of) – De-loused in the Comatorium (2003)
